NHE host Scott Murphy talks to director Jennifer Reeder all about her latest feature, the neo-noir psychological thriller “Knives and Skin,” which at the time of recording was set to make its UK Premiere at Arrow’s Frightfest back in August.

In the interview (the interview begins at 1:47), Jennifer tells us how the movie sets out both to pay homage to and provide commentary on the teen movie genre. Also, we get into how she achieved the stylised neon-soaked look of the film, how difficult it was to balance the films multiple tonal shifts, and how important the music was to the picture. Plus, we ask Jennifer about the inevitable comparisons the movie has drawn to “Twin Peaks” and whether or not she feels they are lazy.

Elsewhere in the interview, Jennifer tells us about why she loves working with theatre actors, some of her film festival experience as well as some of her cinematic influences.
