NHE host Scott Murphy chats to writer/director Karl Holt about his debut feature “Benny Loves You.” A gloriously demented 80s slasher throwback featuring a killer teddy bear!
In the interview (the interview begins at 1:49), we talk to Karl about the epic five year production process it took to get “Benny Loves You” on to the big screen. We go into everything from how he self-financed the project to how he roped his parents into being production assistants to how he had to render the CGI effects on his home. Plus, he tells us how he strove to strike the right balance between horror and comedy and why he enjoys editing.
Elsewhere in the interview, we talk to Karl about how the film’s very British humour has translated in other countries, the pros and cons of digital film festivals and how he would love to keep making more scary movies.
