Welcome back to our brand new Guilty Pleasure’s series! A series we have begun as part of our friends Bloodhound Pix #HorrorNotFear campaign, which will see New Horror Express along with several other outlets offering bonus content over the next year.
We ran a poll on social media platforms to see which film we would look at in our “King Gone Bad” edition of the series between “Dreamcatcher” and “Cell.” And in an absolute landslide “Dreamcatcher” was our runaway winner.
On the show to deep dive into “Dreamcatcher” alongside our host Scott Murphy we have two great former guests in “The Perished” director Paddy Murphy and “A Ghost Waits” director Adam Stovall.
Over the course of the episode, we unpick how a movie with such a high level of assembled talent including; the director Lawrence Kasdan (The Big Chill, Body Heat), screenwriter William Goldman (The Princess Bride, All The President’s), cinematographer John Seale (Mad Max: Fury Road) and a cast of Morgan Freeman, Damian Lewis, Thomas Jane, Timothy Olyphant, Tom Sizemore, and Jason Lee could go quite this badly wrong?
We also get into just how high Stephen King was when he wrote. And, for that matter, how high Adam was when he rewatched it. We also valiantly try to make sense of the plot, redub the film “Pete’s Magic Oxy Vortex Finger,” and Adam regales us with his theory that this film is America. Plus, Paddy works on a definition of what is good anyway and possibly discovers his next feature.
Finally, there is a LOT of chat about Ass Aliens or “Shit Weasels” as they are dubbed in the movie.
