Welcome back to our ongoing Guilty Pleasure’s bonus series! A series we begun as part of our friends Bloodhound Pix #HorrorNotFear campaign, which will see New Horror Express along with several other outlets offering bonus content up until June 2021.
We ran a poll on social media platforms to see which film we would look at in our “Sci-fi Horror Stinkers” edition of the series between “Jason X”, “Doom” and “Pandorum.” And with 2/3rd’s of the vote you went with “Jason X.”
On the show to give a deep (well as deep as you can be about a slasher killer in freakin’ space!) dive into the movie, alongside our host Scott Murphy, we have two great former guests in “A Ghost Waits” director Adam Stovall and “The Horror at Gallery Kay” director Abe Goldfarb. Both of whom return (unwisely?) for their second edition running.
Over the course of the episode we do our best to unpack the plot, discuss if the frozen head kill is a franchise best and tackle why there is so much hate for this entry into the franchise. Also, Adam gives his unique take, having only seen the original before this. And Abe expresses his joy at watching this compared to the struggle he had with “Leprechaun in the Hood” (which you can hear all about here).
Elsewhere in the episode we somehow get into theology, gender theory and BLM. Not to mention both Proust and Chekov come up. How you ask? Well, you will just have to listen to find that out.
