NHE host Scott Murphy chats to writer/director Nicholas Payne Santos about his debut feature “It Cuts Deep.” A slasher horror-comedy which explores toxic masculinity.
In the interview (the interview begins at 1:51), we talk to Nicholas about the initial inspirations, how the tone of the picture evolved from more out-and-out comedic to something darker and the many slasher flicks that influenced his movie. Plus, Nicholas details how surprisingly smooth the shoot of the picture was and how much he allowed for improv-ing on set.
Away from the film we also get into his love for Christmas, his favourite Friday the 13th films and how he got into producing with his production company 88/90 (which was behind former guest Matthew John Lawrence’s “Uncle Peckerhead”).
