NHE host Scott Murphy chats to writer/director Ryan Spindell about his debut feature “The Mortuary Collection.” An anthology picture which pays loving tribute to EC comics and Amicus horror anthologies among a host of other horror influences.
In the interview (the interview begins at 1:34) we talk to Ryan about the short film “The Babysitter Murders” that inspired this project, how a surprising amount of people don’t know what an anthology movie is, .and if he was nervous putting out in an anthology given the horror anthology boom of the last few years. Plus he talks about what it was like working with the legendary actor Clancy Brown and how he would like the film to become a gateway horror for kids
Elsewhere in the interview Ryan talks about some of his own favourite horror films growing up, his particular disappointment he couldn’t (for obvious COVID-related reasons) travel with the film on the festival circuit and what he is planning to work on next.
