Guilty Pleasures - Supernova (2000)
/

Welcome once again to our ongoing Guilty Pleasure’s bonus series! A series we begun as part of our friends Bloodhound Pix #HorrorNotFear campaign and was supposed to end last summer. But the show rolls on now that we have become a firm fixture at the Morbidly Beautiful network and we just have so much damn fun doing it. So, it will now roll on forever! (or however long people allow us to keep doing this!).

We ran a poll on social media platforms to see which film we would look at in our “More Sci Fi Horror Stinkers” edition. Would it be “Supernova” or “The Invasion” or “The Cloverfield Paradox”? Well it was a tight vote but a surprising winner emerged in the form of the 2000 sci-fi horror bomb that is “Supernova.”

Alongside NHE host Scott Murphy to dive into this one we have a first time guest in the form of film reviewer Adam Thornton (The Wee Review, Thorny Reviews).

Over the course of the episode Adam and Scott breakdown why Walter Hill disowned the film, the weird additions made by Francis Ford Coppola, and also the input of this film’s other director Jack Sholder. Plus we get into how the trailer completely (and intentionally) mis-sells the film, how the film’s budget doesn’t make it on the screen and the surprising amount of zero-G sex going on.
